HyperV SCVMM Cluster validation error

Dear Experts,

I am facing with below error when I try to validate my existing Hyperv cluster in System Center Virtual Machine Manager 2012

Error (25300)
Cluster validation failed because of error: Check the spelling of the cluster name. Otherwise, there might be a problem with your network. Make sure the cluster nodes are turned on and connected to the network or contact your network administrator..

Recommended Action
Refer cluster documentation to resolve the issue.

Tried to google for the reason but unable to find an appropriate solution

Can anyone help us what this error means and how can we resolve this?

Thank you

Regards

What happens when you try to validate your cluster using Failover Cluster Manager?  Essentially, all SCVMM does is invoke this, and then report back on the progress until it is completed.

Is SCVMM in the same domain as the cluster?

Hi LesterClayton,

Thank you for the reply

Yes they are all on the same domain.

when I go to cluster properties I can see the cluster is offline and cluster ip address failed

however for now all the vm's hosted in the hosts are running fine but was wondering if this bring my cluster down for any reason

Any other ideas please?

OK Looks like the issue with SCVMM is related to the cluster being offline.  This generally isn't a good thing.  The fact that all the VM's are running is because the failover cluster is in an offline state, and therefore cannot manage the resources.  You should bring the Cluster IP online, and then the cluster name online.  See screenshot.

Navigate to the Cluster Core Resources, find the name, expand it, and bring the IP Address online.  Check that the IP does not respond first - perhaps you have an IP Address conflict.

Essentially, all of your "Cluster COre Resources" need to be online for the cluster to be properly operational
