What causes this message when opening an e-mail with Outlook?

There are so many Microsoft e-mail programs so the one I have is the former Hotmail.
I have no idea what Live is and OneDrive for photos is the worst.

So, this messages pops open making Outlook inconvenient. It happens many times a day but not 100% of the time and maybe only 50% of the time.
It says I need to click on a message to open it.

I already clicked on the message.

That I believe might be your email setup in the native app for Windows 10. It replaced "Windows Live" and before that, Outlook Express. I don't know why you are getting it, but it might e a new message alert. Check your Windows 10 mail settings and report back.

It's Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
It's the former Hotmail dot com
You getting this on 2 computers, one with Windows 7 and one with Windows Vista? Using Outlook? What version?

That graphic does not match what I used to see with older versions of WLM, Outlook, Etc. It appears to be a new graphic and/or online graphic.

No link to see the version of Outlook. Its the same as Hotmail.

That message started when we moved from Windows Mail to Outlook dot com which is the same as Hotmail.com.
I will guess it's your browser then. If you're using Internet Explorer, you might need to upgrade.

We have IE 11.0
I think the issue is the messages are not loading. It could be a Windows issue, or Outlook issue or ??
First off are you seeing outlook.com or outlook mail?

David:
Microsoft has so many different e-mail products I have a weak idea.

I am using what used to be called Hotmail dot com which was a good e-mail program before all the changes. Now with three of those accounts they each get over 100 junks messages per week and they are all duplicates. If account 1 gets a message from ABC company they all three get the same message. I've tried blocks and message rules and it is hopeless. I even tried to block Microsoft Rewards to stop so many messages from them and that block failed.

It's like the program is not recognizing that the message has already arrived. It happens many times a day.

Lisa: I can not locate the version number. There are 4 icons top right and one is to options. The others do not tell you what they are when you hover over them, you have to click them which opens up things not desired and the windows do not close and require logout and back in. There is no normal tool bar to go to help and see the version.

It's Outlook.com from what I can see from MSN page which is forced on you when you want to go to e-mail.
Please show a screenshot of the whole window, you can send it to me privately if you like. I'm still very confused about this question and what program you are using.

I just went to my account and there was one new message. It was from Amazon as you can see. I went down the page to the message from Lenovo that arrived earlier today. I clicked on the message and got what you see in the 2nd image.

I had already chosen a message to read. The Lenovo message.
Ok, I understand now. Test Firefox or Chrome, see if you get the same results. Your IE looks outdated, so if it works in FF or Chrome, then upgrading your IE will give probably help.

It's IE 11.0 and was current as of a few months ago. I am having to go from one pc to another. It will be later in the week when I can try FF and Chrome.
I weakly think it is Outlook since that is the program that is displaying both the messages and the errors.

I guess I meant to say I am not sure if it happens with Chrome. The new pc has IE 11 and I am trying to stick to IE 11.0 as the chosen browser. If any issues come up along the way then find out the cause.

I delete temporary files every night before shutdown. That would mean the ones accumulated during the day would be there the rest of the day. Since the e-mails that give me that message are basically random I'd not be able to delete temporary before the next event

..........Are you double-clicking on an email entry to open it?
I am close to positive that I am.

I can have both browsers open (IE and Chrome) and make sure to click two times and try that for a day or two and keep a better record of the event.

No none of that seems to apply. Yes it opens in the middle of the screen and in the mail program "same as" Hotmail did 5 years ago.

It's the new look mail program and quite a few worthless features. When you delete a message all messages shift upward and back down and then the deleted one is gone. Very unnecessary feature. We can not block Microsoft Rewards either. They keep voiding our block of their spam.
-----------------------
We are logging in to the new look Hotmail. There is no webmail. We call it Hotmail but they have killed Hotmail. so Outlook dot com I guess.

Today I have clues using Vista and Chrome and Outlook.
Dave: I have been clicking one time and glad of it. Two clicks and it opens an entirely new larger window to read the message or reply. I have to close that larger window to get back to the e-mail program and view the message there.

Double click = to be avoided.

So, I clicked on a message from Amazon. I got "select and message to read it."  I already selected one Mr. Gates.
Then 2-3 seconds later that message changes to "loading."

I can test more with IE, and Windows 7 but based on today, it's not a Windows 7 problem and not a IE problem it looks to be to all the new bells and whistles (that are of no value) of the Outlook e-mail program.

I'm going to close this question after 2 days of Outlook dot com the former Hotmail, after using Chrome and Vista. The same issues occurred the weekend with IE 11.0 and Windows 7. I conclude it is the program because it never happened years ago when we had slower ISP.
I discovered today that if you watch the  "choose a message to read it" long enough you get another message to watch which is "loading." Then you watch the blue thing go round and round and finally the message loads. Some messages open in a split second and others do not. Most do open promptly and with "one click." They have sure ruined Hotmail. Now you have to allow more windows to open to block a message or move a message to a certain folder, etc. I used Hotmail for at least 15 years and this Outlook is a very poor e-mail program.
We have to use these accounts so we will just have to put up with the loading issues. I do not think they are ISP related because these things never happened with Hotmail and slower internet speeds. Too many bells and whistles and cosmetic things added and too bad they let Hotmail die.

Insignificant Volunteer: I am sure there will be a way of disabling it, but we need to know whether this is a Windows notification or a hotmail one from within the webmail interface.
...........please let me know a way to disable.........

Yes it does let me access e-mails from anywhere and I have used Hotmail as a place to store messages. I've likely got several thousand stored there. I use it for non personal e-mails. Yahoo has similar unfriendly user tools. I have avoided gmail because of having to deal with Google.
That does not leave many free e-mail programs.

I'm giving an assist to Davis and maybe he can reply concerning his comment about 1 or 2 clicks.

The other comments by others were not applicable at all to the OS and browser being used or were questions that were answered but no reply.
You are not alone with being in the unhappy crew. I just had a client pay me for time to find out that his hotmail server is not working with 2013 or 2016 and I had to help him bandaid a new outlook.com for him to sync his calendar/contacts. Messy. I talked to MS and there was a known bug and nothing we could do.
All of them (Yahoo, Microsoft, AOL, etc.) love to roll out "new and improved" interfaces for their mail and on more than one occasion it has thrown clients for a complete loop; sometimes to the point of being unusable.
The only answer that works is to get a LOT of users to b*tch about it so they either offer the old interface or dump the new one and there is nothing else we can do.
I did that with Paypal and I won. For now.
Thank you Nick.
