PC upgrade to Linux Mint
Dear Experts,
I have a desktop at home, its a dell desktop with CPU ( Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6550@2.33GHZ and RAM IS 3.23 GB. The desktop is running Windows XP Professional. I have a Samsung Printer Xpress C410W with Wireless function plugged to the desktop. I also have a TPLINK Wireless USB Adapter connected and it provides wireless connection to the desktop.
I would like to format this desktop and install Linux Mint on it. My objective is to have the printer, wireless connection to work and also to speed the desktop as well. The other objective is to browse the internet.
I would like to know if Linux Mint will be a good and compatible with what I need to use on the desktop. I also want to know which version of Linux should I install ? I know Linux mint has two flavors. This will be first time I will be using Linux environment and I really appreciate some help here.

Yes, you can do all the above, although I personally have not tried wireless networking on Linux.
IF you need help for Linux Mint (which a very good desktop Linux ), you can take a look at this guide:

Everything will probably just run out-of-the box, even wireless. If your Video card doesn't support OpenCL, then be sure to get the "Mate" version of Mint, as it doesn't require the video card's 3d hardware to work, like the Cinnamon version of mint does.
Personally though I'd recommend MakuluLinux LinDoz. It works even better than mint, and has a look and feel that closely resembles Windows. It is much easier to use, and already supports a lot of Windoze software out-of-the-box.
Version 12 is still in it's Beta stadium, but it works very well. You'll either need a DVD to burn the iso to, or I prefer using USB sticks, as that is faster, and you can use them over. To get the iso on the stick use the "WinSetupFromUSB tool:

What you should do is use the Linux mint liveCD to test run the system before going full bore.
Running it this way will preserve your current setup while making it possible for you to test/familiarize with options and functionality........
If any incompatibility not detecting printer/USB network.......
