Windows 10 ENT vs LTSB
Hi all,
After visiting Microsoft today Im looking for some clarity around windows 10 Enterprise editions CB vs LTSB.
We use CCM to deploy windows 10 (1601) and WSUS to control updates.
Im slightly confused as to how the CB version of windows 10 works with updates?
Is the tradition method of windows update now defunct?
Are there extra build updates that are now applied?
What is impact on allowing these updates to install automatically?
Can group policy turn off this feature? and can we control in a coordinated manner?
Would appreciate some clarity.

Say in a corporate environment what option would you choose?
Does the CB build ignore your WSUS settings?
Will the LTSB build become unsupported?

In a corporate environment, the LTSB is used for better control over when to perform upgrades...
If you like the older method of beta testing new releases prior to distribution, that is the way to go...
Other than that virtually no difference for routine updates...

I am running the LTSB build and I still get updates from my WSUS server as I enabled windows 10 for critical and security updates. So how is this different?

Thanks for your reply,
I understand now the differences, I assuming if you 1511 or 1601 build even with WSUS updates you cannot stop these main updates?
Atleast with LTSB build I understand they will will be releasing a updated build periodically, so we coudl always clip thsi into our CCM build.
I guess my biggest fear is of this change is the impact this is going to have on our users. Ive been reading various threads when admins have complained of machines being wiped. profiles lost etc..etc..
How do these updates differ from a machine that is installing windows security updates? what are the is impact to O/S in terms of update size and how its delivered compared to traditional updates?

Ye we you can stop major upgrades with WSUS. But you wouldn't want to do so i definitely as the time where the OS becomes unsupported (aka no security updates) is relatively short.

But Cliff thats not necessarily true, If I used the current LTSB buidl it will be supported for 3 years with updates, until which point they will have released a up-to-date build containing a cumulative install of he feature updates. The only difference is that we wont get them periodically. As for updates for DLL's for chrome? not sure how that is going to be different?
So what part of what I wrote is "not necessarily" true? If you want me to clarify something, I will. But what I wrote is absolutely accurate.
Seems to some confusion between "upgrades" and "updates"...
I still see nothing here that implies my original answer is insufficient!

It is similar to (although not QUITE the same) as the "defer upgrade" option in WIN 10 PRO... However, LTSB will NEVER automatically perform upgrades to the installed build.
