8 GB using 4x 2GB DDR2 Modules.  www.crucial.com has a tool that will help ensure you get the correct RAM and tell you the maximum supported.  Or if you don't want to get the RAM from them, print it out and take it to a local store.

You can go to www.crucial.com and use their memory selector. It will tell you max and # of slots, etc.
