can i install CR2016 alongside CR2008 without overwriting it?

I currently have several projects using CR2008 and I don't want to break them.
can I install without overwriting the CR2008 files?

Yes, they install into different folders.

Thanks.  CR offers an "upgrade".  Will this overwrite or create an entirely new installation?

It is supposed to entirely independent.  Your CR2008 should still function correctly.
