AWS S3 or Glacier + CloudBerry

I had this question after viewing Is it somehow better than the same client SW with other big names (... Google, Azure ...)?.

Anton,

E2E usually means End-to-End (... services ...). As per you recommendation, I pay some $$ to the provider for the storage (e.g. Amazon S3 in you case) and traffic (Amazon WS) + some extra money for the 3rd party software and - probably - support and upgrades (... CloudBerry ...), assuming that CloudBerry knows the API in detail.

What to do if the recovery of 1TB after using all the above is too slow?

Evgeny,

Obviously the big problems with using the cloud for backup are:
1) Initial seed
How long is it going to take to upload all your data via your ISP?  - Probably too long

2) restore from backup
How long is it going to take to restore?

NB use 10 bit bytes for comms links

Exactly!

Dear experts: do you have ANY experience from the field - good or bad?
Data retrieval depends on a number of factors.

Usually I recommend to split your server's partitions to one system (30GB -- best, 50GB -- good).
To have all the apps data on another partition.
Depending on the server's role to have system partition image backup, file backup for all the rest partitions and additional jobs for applications backup.
In case something goes wrong you don't need to restore say 1TB of data but only replace what's broken for example OS, certain files or an application.
For example, depending on your ISP bandwidth 30-50 GB can be restored within half an hour and up to several hours.
Knowing the recent S3 outage and its consequences: who has more ideas and possible options re: Cloud/online backup in Europe?
Thanks in advance!
