Could you orientate some doubts when start using Laravel?

Hi Experts

Since company is going to migrate to Laravel some doubts arises.

Eloquent and Doctrine are ORM(s) that came in the Laravel's instalation, ok?
So, it seens to be intechangeable... when to use one or the other?

Symphony looks to be another framework like Laravel (?!) so why to use it from inside Laravel?

Symfony is, to my way of thinking, more of a components set.  You can do things with it on its own, but there is so much more to Laravel, with a flatter learning curve.  Good discussion here.

I would choose Eloquent over Doctrine, but there are many ways to look at the issues.  This article looks pretty good to me.  Sitepoint is usually pretty good!
