Calyptix AE1200 VLAN Question

Calyptix firewalls only do port based VLANs.  Does anyone know if you can communicate between VLANs with this device or do you need a L3 switch or another router?

Thanks.

don't know a thing about Calyptix but since it is a firewall, you can most definitely create rules that will allow whatever communication you want between your vlans as long as the network is properly configured.

a simplistic setting would be
- firewall has an ip in each vlan + your WAN connection
- all hosts' default gateways are the firewall's ip in their own VLAN

in that case, the routing part would be natively handled by the firewall and you just need to create NAT rules for your outgoing traffic and a rule per service for inter-VLAN communications
