GPO warning
Hi,
Please can you help me;
I have Active directory (server 2012 R2 : domain controller) and PCs with OS windows 8.1.
When I execute on pc (windows 8.1) "gpupdate /force" via command prompt "cmd"
Every time gpupdate /force is run I receive the following message:
-------------------------- ---------- ---------
User Policy update has completed successfully.
The following warnings were encountered during user policy processing:
The Group Policy Client Side Extension Folder Redirection was unable to apply one or more settings because the changes must be processed before system startup or user logon. The system will wait for Group Policy processing to finish completely before the next startup or logon for this user, and this may result in slow startup and boot performance.
Computer Policy update has completed successfully.
For more detailed information, review the event log or invoke gpmc.msc to access information about Group Policy results.
Certain User policies are enabled that can only run during logon.
OK to logoff?. (Y/N)
-------------------------- ---------- ---------
And then I receive the same message in my System event log.

Just to clarify, you are logging on and off (or rebooting) after you get this message? Certain policies require a reboot/ log off to apply and there isn't anything you can do about that.
This is saying that some items in your GPO will not work until a reboot or logoff/login. This can happen when you have software installs or scripts that can require admin privileges to run.
Reboot the computer and give them 2 minutes after the login screen comes up and then login. The GPO should be applied correctly.

The message is normal.
Folder Redirection and Software Installation Policies require the synchronous policy application.
The gpupdate /force start a asynchronous policy refresh, the system sets a flag that indicates that the application of Folder Redirection or a software installation policy is required.
The flag forces synchronous application of the policy at the user’s next logon.
If you would like to update Folder Redirection Policy, please just log off and logon.
