How many management VMs required for vSphere Essentials Plus with 20+ large VMs ?

Hi All,

I'm currently planning to deploy new vSphere essentials plus cluster in my Data Center:
vSphere Essentials Plus
3x HP DL 380 G9
10-15+ VMs running SQL Server with 16-32 GB vRAM 4-8x vCPU
VCSA 6.0 Update 2 (Small deployment)

So my question is, how many management VM is required as best practice for my environment above ?

Do I need to deploy things separately into 3x individual VMs like:
1x VCSA 6.0U2 appliance - VCenter mgmt Server & Embedded PostGRE SQL
1x VUM (Windows Server) - VUM, SQL Express 2012 and Update Patch & Repo..
1x Platform Service Controller - SSO, License and VMware Certificate Authority

the three above VMs I was thinking to be deploying it into the main VCenter 5.5 Standard deployment in another separate HP Blade environment since those new Essentials Plus is just for separate department.

Do I need three or two only VCSA (All in one) and VUM Windows VM for best practice ?

I would consider your environment to be small, so make it simple, and deploy all-in-one, embedded - simple.

Also deploy 6.5 which includes update manager as well, no need for an additional Windows server for Update Manager.

switch to 6.5!

6.5 is now available with Update Manager included.
