Bootstrap input box width

I have a bootstrap group what has a textbox and a button.  I would like to remove the button.  But when I do,  the textbox width decreases greatly.  What I would like to happen is for the textbox to expand to take up the space that was occupied by the removed button.

The following is the html fragment (hopefully sufficient to address the problem):
    <div class="input-group">
      <input type="text" id="txtSearchSelectedPeopleSlide" class="form-control" name="field1" placeholder="This is Readonly input" readonly/>
          <div class="input-group-addon"><a href="#" onClick="SearchRequest(); return false;" class="">Go</a></div>
    </div>
