Missing SCCM Resources in CAS
There is a client with a mixed mode SCCM 2007 SP3 environment. It has a CAS and three primaries all running Windows 2008r2 and SQL 2012. They also have about 450+ secondary servers all running Windows 2008R2 and with over 10 000 Windows 7 clients. A weird thing happened last Friday when the CAS started to lose its resources. The first noticeable issue was the users not being able to pick resources after updating a custom made collection . The count in the All Systems collection dropped to about 8000 in about half an hour then it gradually dropped to zero in about 2 hours. The resources missing on the CAS could be found on the three primaries. The clients on the missing resources showed no sign of any removal activity in the ccmsetup.log file. What the techie did is to use the SCCM Client Actions Tool (https://sccmcat.codeplex.com/) to rediscover the resources using records exported from AD. So far this had worked as they can now view the resources in the All Systems Collection. Any ideas what could have caused these resources to "disappear" from the CAS server but still visible on the primaries?

Sorry for the late reply and thank yours for your tips. It looks like there was a DNS issue on the network and is working to rectify the problem. So far about 95% of the clients have been successfully discovered but the rest appear to be inactive.
