How do I open my Dashlane exported backup file (.dash)?

I have my password info stored in my Dashlane software and it is an extension in my Chrome browser. There is an option to export the information for backup purposes. There are 2 options, secure which exports a .dash file and unsecure which is a .xls or .cvs file. I have done all three and the unsecured files I am able to open in their respective programs but the secure .dash file, intended for use with Dashlane I suppose, does not open with Dashlane. My computer didn't recognize the file so I had to use the Open With command. I tried a couple of different txt type programs on my computer to no avail. I eventually found how to set the file to open with Dashlane but when I try to open the file it doesn't work. Yes, it is my own info, not someone else's. I posted this question incorrectly yesterday and got a response on how to correctly post a question. The expert's answer included a concern that I could be trying to open someone else's information but that is not the case.  It doesn't matter, as I have the unsecure file as an xcel file anyway. Just wondering now about how to have the computer differentiate between Dashlane files (.dash) and Media files (.dash) as I also do video editing. I don't want any of my codecs to cause problems, also, the Dashlane software should be opening the file but it does not. Is this because of my Vegas Pro codecs? I also have VLC.

the secure *.dashlane item is encrypted with your copy of dash and only usable with dashlane nothing else.  Do you ever open videos that use .dash ?  Sony Vegas probably overwrite the program defaults.  if you reinstall dashlane It might change the defaults.. If it is a video file use the open with instead of open or edit and select Sony Vegas.. there might be two entries there.. dashlane and sony vegas.

Thank you. You were correct. Using the import command from within Dashlane is what did the trick. I can't believe I didn't think of that ! It's weird how lazy we can be sometimes when using Windows. I do a lot of audio and video editing, although I know it isn't the same as opening a backup file, I almost never drag and drop an audio or video file from an open window on my desktop into my editing programs. I just don't like it.  I guess we have all gotten used to being able to just double-clicking a file to open it. Thanks again
