Advice on Windows 10 logon lock screen disabling it

We cannot log in and try to log on as administrator and get "This computer is locked only the sign-in user can unlock the computer".

We want to disable this function in order to log on as the administrator.

How can we do this?

What is EE opinion on this?

Andy,

We don't want enable display user info in locked screen for security reason.
In order to get what we are looking for, do we have to enable this function?

Jackie,

Read your link (we had to go to MMC and add Group Policy Editor), but in your entry says it will grey out the lock option from the start menu.  We don't want to disable the option to lock the computer, we want to be enable lo log on as admin within the same computer.

We want to disable this message "This computer is locked only the sign-in user can unlock the computer" and permit additional admin login.
By default, fast user switching is enabled.

Have you disabled it?

If no, you press Ctrl + Alt + Del, you should have an option to logon as another user, say domain admin and you could restart the computer to force logout the current user who locked the screen.

Yes, that works, that is not our problem.  We can change user by start button and by CTRL-ALT-DEL.  The problem we face is when returning to locked PC after a period of time, we cannot log in as admin user.
By default, I can logon to any locked computer. The current session will be disconnected (but still remain alive).
Not sure you know that, neither sure that I understand what you are talking about, RayLuvs.
Try to disable the screensaver.

My reading indicated your problem is related to a malfunctioning screensaver.

McKnife,

We want to disable the security control that send this messages to a user who tries to log on as the administrator previously locked by another user: "This computer is locked only the sign-in user can unlock the computer".

Jackie,

Curios u say that.  Our search pointed to that, so we entered a question regarding for assistance.

Will try disabling screensaver and see.

Disabling screensaver and still effect.

FYI on our question guys:

  • We cannot log in to a computer as administrator when it has been locked by another user.
  • We want to disable function that produces the effect "This computer is locked only the sign-in user can unlock the computer".
  • We want to be able to log in as administrator in a computer that has been locked by another user.
disable and uninstall are two different concepts.

you need to uninstall screensaver, restart computer and do a test again.

As said earlier, we placed a question regarding the screensaver since we think it's the cause but could't find how to uninstall the screensaver, only was able to change setting (see question last entry for "sway" screensaver).

Since we haven't been able to uninstall it, we think that it may be the cause of the propblem still (even though we change the screensaver setting to just standard windows text screensaver).

Do you know how to uninstall "sway"?
Would this fix the problem describe in this question?

Please note that the question of installing is only if you think that is the cause of our problem.  We need to disable this message or this "lock" that prohibits from entering with administrator account when another user has locked it.  If you think that uninstalling sway screensaver is the possible solution, ok.  But if you have another way to disabling this lock, please advice.

Hi,

Read your link.  Here is our answer:

  • Our problem is not “This computer is locked. Only or an administrator can unlock this computer. “.  Our problem is "This computer is locked.  Only the sign-in user can unlock the computer"

  • Our computer is not part of a domain, it's stand alone.

  • We tried turning off screensaver and using another screen saver, such as Window standard 'Blank', '3D Text', 'Bubles', etc. and same problem (thus the problem is not tied to the screensaver).

  • We ran windows update and also ran System File Checker tool (SFC.exe), all ok and problem persist.

Please note, we have come to conclude that this issue is not a "problem" per-se, rather it's a behavior is by design.

There has to be a way to disable this feature.  We  want to change the settings for our computer so that we can use admin account to unlock the computer (this is what we want to accomplish).

As stated in ID: 41905894, we don't want enable display user info in locked screen for security reason.  Please note that "Interactive Logon: Display User Information when Session is Locked" is set to not display the user name for this computer specifically instructed by our administration office, they don't want to be known who is logged when the screensaver becomes actives and locks the computer.

But again, as we asked in ID: 41905894, in order to get what we are looking for, do we have to enable this function?
Yes

on every workstation I manage, it is the default settng to display the logon user info and there is no such problem like yours.

So it's as we said in our previous entry, this issue is by design not an error due to screensaver programs or other possible system problem preventing users to log to a locked PC by other users.

Are we correct in this assumption?
