Setup different mail flow for a few users - Exchange 2016.

Hello,

I am running an Exchange 2016 server.

The customer sends out email blasts every month from one of the email accounts.  These emails can reach 10,000 recipients.  This works just fine as long as I'm not using our Smart Host.  Our Smart Host limits outbound email to 99 recipients.

I would like to setup Exchange to use the Smart Host for all users except these 2 accounts that send out the email blast.  Perhaps an alternate Send Connector restricted to these email addresses?  Is this or another recommended way an option?

Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Many folks, when they want to send out email blasts to a bajillion people, do so by using a 3rd party service that specialises in this kind of service.  (MailChimp is one example)  Rather than forcing it out through your Exchange server, I suggest you make use of one of these types of services.

Using your own server is possible of course, but you run the risk of ending up on block lists.  Also, it sounds like your Exchange server has not needed to be set up properly to send email since you say you are using a smart host - so now you will have to set up reverse DNS, maybe SPF records, etc etc so that your server can send mail without a lot of bounce backs

I agree about the 3rd party solution.  That is what I initially recommended.  This post is following several conversations with after which the customer still does not want to use a 3rd party.
