Prevent spoofed emails for Office 365 customer

A company I support that uses Office 365 has started receiving spoofed emails.

These spoofed emails have the exact same domain name as our office 365 customer but the account email addresses that are being used resemble the names of actual employees within the organization.

So far the only difference between the spoofed email addresses and the legitimate emails addresses for employees is that the spoofed email address have hyphenated last names.

I have read several articles including the one mentioned below but this solution will only work if we include the external IP addresses of where these emails are being sent from. While most of the emails are sent from within the office every employee has a laptop so there are also a lot of emails that are being sent from outside the office

https://knowbe4.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/212679977-Domain-Spoof-Prevention-in-Exchange-2013-2016-Office-365

What can be done to prevent these spoofed emails from being received by this Office 365 customer?

Vasil Michev,

Our customer does not have any on premises Exchange servers or 3rd party services sending mail on behalf of our users.

The only emails that are being sent are being sent through the Office 365 servers.
