Lost sound on my Windows 7 PC
Hello,
I have a Win/7 PC with Logitech X-140 2.0 Speakers, which were both working fine just a bit ago. I wanted to use the speakers in another computer, so I turned the speaker's switch off and unplugged them from my running computer and power strip. Later when I wanted to use them in my above mentioned PC, I again made sure that the speakers were off, plugged the back into the running computer rear audio jack, plugged in the power cord, and found that no sound was coming from them.
I restarted the computer, still no sound. Checked that the various sound level channels and settings in Control Panel> Sound and Realtek HD Audio Manager are as the should be and still no sound.
Did I kill the onboard sound by plugging in the speakers while the computer was running, even though the speakers were turned off? If so is there anyway to fix this or do I need to by a PCI sound card?
thanks,
Ana

reinstalling the audio driver did the trick. I had to download it from realtek, because Windows 'Update driver' option said that I had the best driver was already installed.
Thanks again,
