Does the user have a pdf reader installed on the computer?  www.adobe.com, bottom right corner install adobe reader dc.  It is a free install
Check the registry settings below to ensure that DWORD named  TabProcGrowth is there, if not there create it.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

PLS Be advice to backup your registry before making any changes.

Going to give it a try now.
Ok, I checked the regedit and the name exist. I also saw the reader was not installed. I did install that I went into preferences and made sure internet display PDF was unchecked. Now she gets instruction 0x7075786e could not be referenced at the same 0x7075786e memory could not be written. There are no traces of any malware or virus? Still not opening. Now it did get further than before but then this error pops up.
- What version of IE?
- How is the user attempting to open the PDF's (e.g. Clicking a link or double-clicking in windows explorer)?
- Is it happening with ALL PDF's?
- Is the user having any problems with other file types?
- Did PDF's ever open properly on this computer?
- When did the problem start?
- Does the problem happen when a different user logs on to the computer?
- Does it happen when the user logs on to a different computer?
IE 11 and yes he does have reader. Did not but I installed it and re-booted. I also ran a repair on his Adobe and it did get the update. Now it works in Google Chrome or Firefox just not IE 11.
OK. IE11. What about my other questions:

The user opens IE and clicks her way to the PDF to open and yes all PDF's. Never tried any other files types, yes they at one time did work. Now I never checked the one about a different user. Good call there. The last one was a good point as well. let me have her rty all of this and see how she fares out.

That I have not tried. Funny, I should have done that right off. I will see. She comes in around 9 so I will try it when she does. Thanks.
