OWhy is my Outlook Standard 2010 keep slowing down when external drive attached to PC?

Hi,

Microsoft Office Standard 2010 32Bit on a Windows 10 Pro 64Bit, I have created an Archive.pst in a folder on a Seagate Backup Plus 1TB external drive.  When the Archive.pst is open on my Navigation Pane there are multiple folders, and have been dumping emails in here for some time now....I noticed that things were slowing down when moving emails into?   So I googled how big is big to slow down Outlook?   I read like 40 GB?

My archive.pst is only 4. something GB?

I have now created a new .pst in the folder and have been trying to copy some folders into the newer one, but taking forever?

Anyone know of an easier way to move or break the original archive.pst down and onto the new one?

Could it be the External Drive?

It is a semi new backup drive Seagate Backup Plus Portable Drive 1TB USB3.0.

Hoping not corrupt.

Sounds good Tom....I will run some tests and try to move some of the folders after?

So I will then create an Archive via Outlook Clean Up Tools...once I have folders created I can just move them in.

Do you know the size?
Create Archive and set let say - all older than 6 months or so,,
This is going to move all older than 6 months email from all Outlook folders in one mailbox in outlook to archive.
Let process finish. Sometimes it will takes few hours, depends on mailbox capacity and number of folders and subfolders.
If you sure that archiving was end, disconnect file from outlook, move to external drive and connect in outlook back
Thanks....started to create new one and slowly moving folders off.

Ran HD scan and no issues.
