Help adding usb port to computer running on ms dos
Good day!
I'm a complete newbie in ms dos so please bear with me.
My question are... Can I use any usb port card to add to the computer or there are special usb port cards that support ms dos?
Also, do I have to install a driver? like this one -->http://www.georgpotthast.d e/usb/
Your help will be very much appreciated

There are no USB drivers for DOS. You need at least Windows 98 and that is only USB 1. USB 2 and later requires XP and later.
The driver above is only mass storage, has limits and is not for printers / scanners.

Hang on.
A barcode scanner usually just emulates a keyboard. Most motherboards have BIOS support for detecting and accepting input from a keyboard plugged into a USB port. There may be BIOS settings to enable and disable that.
So, if this machine, like most, can run DOS with a USB keyboard, it should just work.

Just buy a female usb to ps2 adapter problem solved
While I appreciate the offer of points, my comment didn't add to the initial question. I recommended 375 points to John's initial post and 125 to Marine's initial post. John's answer was correct and to the point. Marine added something that may have been useful until the OP indicated his needs (not mass storage) later.

Hi! I have a question regarding [still] upgrading the system. This post ends here but continues as another question. Follow here
"USB not properly supported in DOS".
Odd, I just tested with a USB scanner on a machine running DOS, it worked just fine.

Really? Did you use a USB port card?
Given the timing of USB and DOS, I think it is fair to say that there isn't support in DOS for it. As seen above, though, that hasn't stopped clever programmers from writing drivers that can provide such support. There were plenty of examples of this when DOS was around.
Nope, no USB card. I just used an aging PC with inbuilt USB ports. PCs began shipping with USB ports supported in the BIOS around 20 years ago. If a USB keyboard works under DOS, then so will a scanner.
If your machine lacks USB ports, then it is truly archaic, and probably landfill material. A DOS app should run just fine on a 10year old PC dragged out of a skip somewhere.

What are you trying to do that requires a USB port in DOS? There may be some way around it.
