Samsung CLP 620ND Laser Network Printer - Colour - Duplex - Faulty - Starts-Up - Ready. 20 seconds > System Initializing again

We have an office Samsung CLP 620ND Laser Network Printer, it has very light usage, and still after purchasing from new, has not even completed 1,000 pages yet, despite the toners having 2,500 capacity.

It really does seem a shame to bin and skip this printer, BUT it was only purchased cheaply, if memory serves me correct £300 with £80 cash back. (inc VAT), so even cheaper to the business. It was always envisaged, it would probably be cheaper to purchase a new unit, than replace all four toners.

so this is the printer

and this is it's replacement

http://www.printerland.co.uk/Samsung-CLP-680ND-P123372.aspx

£133 ex VAT, with 3 year warranty.

BUT, before we go out and invest in a new unit..

no-one has come across the issue...

1. Power on .Samsung CLP 620ND Laser Network Printer from cold.

2. This is what is observed on display

3.  System Initialisation > Warming Up > Ready - takes approx 20 seconds.

4. 10 seconds later, it's restarted again, and stating System Initialisation > Warming Up > Ready

5. Goto 2, it's in a loop.

If it takes me 5 minutes, including writing this EE Question, for a fix, we will keep it, otherwise at £133 for a new unit...

Not worth my effort! Just curious, of anyone has seen this fault, and it was..... press a button to fix...

Two possible/probable causes:

Printer reaches ready, then receives some data (a print job, or interrogatory request) which the printer firmware cannot handle (probably because it contains malformed or corrupt data).
Hardware fault (usually with formatter board).

If you power-off the device, disconnect all communications cables (USB, Ethernet, etc.) and disable wireless (if applicable), then power the device back on, what happens?

If it comes to "Ready", and stays like that without rebooting again, something in your system is sending a 'rogue' job.
If it makes no difference, it is likely that the printer has a hardware fault.

The SAME.

Yes, I'd reached the conclusion it was hardware, just wondered if anyone had seen the same, with same printer, and flicked a switch, factory reset, all was well again.

I may try a factory reset, if it will stay on long enough, but it's too quick.
You say it hasn't yet been used a lot. Have you checked whether it still is under warranty? As far as I know, in Europe you should get at least 2 Years warranty on electronic devices.
it's certainly older than 2 years.

Just checked, it was purchased 5 years ago in October!
