Transferring all data and applications from old pc to new pc

I have bought new computer desktop with windows 10 professional. I have my current desktop running on windows 10 but upgraded from windows 7. I want to move everything from old pc to new pc. Looking for software the two recommended ones are pc mover  and zinstall.

Can anyone please advise what is the best way to make transfer.

The best way is to first uninstall all the software from the old PC, then reinstall it on the new one (unless the software licenses cover several installations, then you don't need to do the uninstall on the old PC).

If you created an m$ account when you updated your old OS to Windows 7, you can sync your data via OneDrive.
I was used before LapLink "PC Mover" for my Windows 7 transfer and once a 3 months ago I used EaseUS "Todo PCTrans." to transfer Windows 10 from laptop that was giving a noise and almost die to workstation.

All went smooth

It's free software if you're going to transfer 2 applications. For unlimited number of application you need to spend $50.00

BUT Windows Compatibility is for:

EaseUS Todo PCTrans fully supports Windows 10/8.1/8/7/Vista/XP and Windows Server 2012/2008/2003

so technnicaly you can transfer Windows 2012 server from one machine to another :)

Thanks Tom. I will add easeus as another software to consider in my question. Rindi I am looking for "press one button" solution to do the whole transfer. I am happy to pay to get the most effective tool.

Thanks Marsilies. Is your suggestion then is to avoid transferring applications and to just transfer files. Applications should be downloaded anew. What about my emails in outlook? The application is Outlook from office 2010 and the new pc has office 2016. Will I be able to retain my emails?
Try use software I've suggested. It was working for me.
If we talking about outlook, if is outside domain and not connected to Exchange server all your emails are in xxnamexxx.pst file inside your profile folder

c:\Users\%Username%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\

If is connected to Exchange,, all your emails are on Exchange server and all will automatically synchronize after new connection to Exchange  from new workstation
You definitely don't want to move Office 2010 to the new PC if it already has Office 2016 installed and activated.

This article has info on how to move Outlook data over to a new PC:
http://www.slipstick.com/outlook/config/move-outlook-to-a-new-windows-computer/

However, instead of delivering new messages to the existing PST you copy over, as that link above suggests, you may want to create a new PST and import the old PST file into it:

Tom if I transfer all the files will my old pc still remain the same or will the files be gone?
if you copy the files - they will remain on the old system and thus exist on both
if you MOVE the files; then they will disappear from the old system to the new one (i do not recommend this)

So if I want to only copy not move files and I would prefer to reinstall applications rather than copy them, what is the most reliable software for this?
EaseUS Todo PCTrans is copping files not moving
You must be able to test new system before you'll decide toasted old one.

Tom

What will happen to applications like Office 2010 in old PC when new PC has Office 2016? What will happen to emails using Outlook2010 when the copying is done?

Thanks
there is no real software for what you want to do
MS licences his OS, and office to only 1 PC (except in europe) - and so do many others
if you clone it , and use it on another pc - you may be able to boot, but you'll get a lot of licencing problems
I think you're missing whole concept  of transferring applications.
If you transfer application from one computer to other, that by definition whole application will be transferred.
Maybe your outlook file not and you will be asked to transfer it manually but by definition Office 2010 will show up on new computer.
For Outlook, you won't want to use one of the Application transfer tools to transfer Office 2010 to the new PC, as that might break Office 2016. Instead, use the guides I listed in my last post to move the user data for Outlook from one PC to the other.

After reading the various comments I prefer to only copy the data files and emails. I will separately install the applications needed on the new PC. Which of the software can best do this?
You don't need any software for that.

I should mention that I have my old pc backed up on remote disk drive with system image included. Also I back up my pc on carbonite. If I restore from carbonite on my new pc how will the new pc behave?
what exactly did you backup ?  if only data - it will restore it on the new pc
You must make sure you only restore the data you need to restore. Don't restore any other files.

No clear solution for what I would like. With new computer we need to re-install the applications to avoid issues later.
