"Google Drive" not show in "My Files" on Samsung Galaxy Tab A

On a Galaxy Tab A a customer can't see his "Google Drive" account under "My Files".

On my own tablet (Galaxy Tab S2), i can see it at the bottom.

Does anyone know how to solve this problem?  I've tried many "security parameters" but i still have the issue even after rebooting the tablet.

Some people seems to suggest to Remove the Google Drive application and reinstall it, but actually i have No option to Uninstall.  It just show Deactivate.   And doing Deactivate and Reactivate doesn't change anything.

Thanks for your help

Goto Settings -> Accounts

Do you see the Google account of the user?

Yes.  It is there, and when i use the Google Drive icon, i see the files & folder properly.

The only place where i don't see it is in "My Files" icon which is a kind of "explorer" which i use to copy stuff from the tablet to the Google Drive, and vice versa.

You will not see Google Drive in My Files app.

The way to upload and download files to Google Drive are as follows.

Upload - Select the files to be uploaded and click Share and choose Save to Drive. Choose which folders in Google Drive and click Save.

Download - Open Drive app and locate what you want to download and select Download button. The files downloaded will be saved to Download folder in your internal storage.

Here's a screenshot of My Files on my Galaxy Tab S2 (screenshot is in french but it's the same app):

"My Files" snapshot
As you can see, it's possible to do it without anything else.  I thought it was because i'm using a commercial account while the Galaxy Tab A was using a free gmail account, but i've setuped my own gmail account on the Tab A and i still don't see Google Drive in my files.  So its not related to a setting in my google account.   It must be a setting in the tablet itself, but i can't figure where.

I'll try your solution, but if anyone found the answer to use a single app already included with the Samsung Tablets, it would be nice.

The difference is not on GMail account, but on the bundled app itself on your own Android device.

Try to connect both your own device and the user's tablet under the same wireless network. Download and install ES File Explorer app in both devices and send the "my file" app to the user's tablet.

In my Samsung S5 phone, the bundled my file app has integration with Dropbox instead of Google Drive and the user interface looks like the one in your own device.

Or download the File Manager app below developed by ASUS which has cloud integration feature also.

Asus File Manager have serious issues.
  • adding an account doesn't seems to work at first.  I had to reload the app because the refresh didn't shown my drive
  • It doesn't show shared folders/files.  So you got to go thru google drive, select files one by one, and download them because there's no option to copy a whole folder.  (There's just an option to move a shared folder content to your own google drive). then move them where you want localy with another app.  Non-sense

I've tried ES Explorer (Which seems to be the free version of "ES File Explorer".   It seems to do the job.

Let's hope that someday they update the My Files so it can manage cloud, right out of the box.

Thanks for your help

By the way, i didn't tried to transfer the "My File" app thru ES Explorer.  I've just transfered the files that i needed.  I might try a little later but for the moment, it did what i needed.
