Best Practice for moving Offline Files from one server to another

To whom it may concern

Our client has a local Windows domain network.  Virtual Servers run on Hyper-V.  Description of servers involved in scenario.

(Blastrite-DC)
Virtual Server:
Windows 2008 R2 Standard 64-bit
Intel Xeon E5520 @ 2.27Ghz, 10GB ram

For example purposes: Blast-Offline
New Virtual Server
Windows 2012 R2 Standard
(Specs to be confirmed once server is created)

No logon script or GPO exist that automatically activates it.  Users do not use roaming profiles.

Basically Blastrite-DC has a Users folder (C:\Users) with network folders for each user in the domain.  The users then have a Z:\ drive on their machine which is made offline with their data.  We need to migrate the offline files to the new server and then have the users sync / use offline file from the new server.

What is the best practice procedure to do this?

Please let me know if you require further details on the setup.

Kind Regards

Lourensvd

Hi Shaun

We will be changing the name of the server and ip address.  Our naming structure is changing from blastrite-dc to blast-dc02 for example.
