Issue, I cannot upgrade to IE 11

I have had a PC crash and restored my PC to its original state which is  Windows version 7  with IE 8 . I need to upgrade to IE 11 in order to connect to some of the business accounts I use. The issue is that when I try to do this it will not load IE 11 or any other version of IE

I first go to the suggested Microsoft site and select a version of IE from the list of IE displayed there. No matter which version I select it does not upgrade my pc

The usual error message is " The version that you have selected will not work on your PC."   or something to that effect.

This PC was running the great (laugh) Windows 10 with IE 11 before it crashed.  Now it wants me to pay $119 to buy a version of Windows 10.

Does anyone have a suggest that I can try to make the change from  IE 8 to IE 11?

Any guidance is appreciated.

I would try John Hurst recommendation first.
I don't agree at all.

Since you had Windows 10 installed and licensed on that PC, you should really use that OS.

If you return to Windows 7, you will first have to install all the updates, which will take much longer than installing Windows 10 and it's updates. Besides, the reason why couldn't install IE 11 in the first place was exactly because of those missing updates. IE 11 is a Windows update and gets installed automatically through that process. You don't install it manually. If you really want to return to Windows 7, then you will need to follow the procedure explained in my article below which explains how to get Windows updates running properly on Windows 7:

My suggestion (Windows and Features) will work with both operating systems.
For windows 10 it doesn't matter, as IE 11 is the only IE version available there. For Windows 7 it only works if you have the correct Servicepack level, and the necessary updates installed, and if you go through all the updates as you should anyway, it will be installed without going to the features, as IE 11 is a Windows update.
use the media creation tool, download and install windows 10, skip any prompts for a product key since you already have a digital entitlement.
Everyone, I need one more night to try what you all have suggested. Hopefully, I will be able to spend more time on this issue this evening. I will get back to everyone tomorrow, Wednesday, Dec 21.

Thanks again for your assistance.

Thanks everyone for you assistance.  Here how it worked out.
Tom I tried this solution but no mated which choice I selected from the Microsoft IE selection list none of them would load.

John, I had a similar issue after I tried your suggestion.

Hopeloenie, This was a great idea but that website will not let you download Windows 10 anymore. It least it would not let me download it.

Rindi's solution worked out the best for me. I actually got assistance from Microsoft installation center. Whoever thought you can call Microsoft and get anything other than a busy signal. They were very helpful and now I am back on line.

Thanks everyone for your assistance.
Thank you for the update.
I suggest you still try downloading the Windows 10 iso again. The Link provided works fine...
Thanks for the update, glad you were successful.
