Outlook - access to other mailboxes - but not cache to the local OST.

Hello,

We are running Exchange 2010 (SBS 2011).  CEO User is running Outlook 2010.

CEO User has requested that he be able to view 15 other mailboxes.

I have used this command to grant the user access to these mailboxes without automatically listing them in Outlook:

Add-MailboxPermission -Identity User -User 'CEO User' -AccessRight FullAccess -InheritanceType All -Automapping $false

This correctly granted permission to the mailboxes without automatically populating the additional mailboxes.  I have used the option in Advanced settings to add the additional mailboxes.  This is however creating a different problem.  It appears to be using the same OST file as the primary mailbox and consequently making it very large.

How can I add these additional mailboxes without them using the same OST file?  Or are there any other suggestions on how to address this issue?

Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Rudy

in the same window where you added the mailboxes, if you look 2 check boxes down it says something like download shared mailboxes. uncheck that box, click ok, restart outlook. this will put the other mailboxes in essentially online mode. if you lose network connectivity, he won't be able to view the mailboxes. you may want to rebuild the ost if the other mailboxes made it very large.
There is no option to download shared maiboxes.

There is an option Download Shared Folders,

i don;t think this will matter if Cashed Mode is turn on for this Exchange Connection.
Yep, that is the one. Uncheck the box on Download Shared Folders.
Just don't use cached mode at all.
