Installation of new DAG member with different patching level

Hi there.

I'm faced with a couple of questions I am not 100% sure about, and I wanted to run this through you guys.

A quick background information - I have two Exchange 2013 CU7 in DAG through Windows Failover Clustering. Both servers sits on Data Centre 1 on the same subnet, and both runs CAS and MB roles. Witness is also on the same subnet. Let's call them EXC01 and EXC02. We are charged on a pay per consumption.

I have been asked to get rid of EXC02 and add another server (say EXC03) to replace EXC02 at a Data Centre 2, different subnet, where we don't pay per consumption. The two data centres are connected through a private network (100M pipe).

The idea is to install EXC03 to Data Centre 2, add to the existing DAG and once confirmed to be working 100%, decommission EXC02. Sounds straight forward to me.

The questions/problems I have (and I know I probably should know the answers but I don’t) are:

1.      EXC01 and EXC02 are running CU7. As far as I am aware, both the operating system and the exchange versions must match when they are part of a DAG. However, I cannot for the life of me find CU7 for download anymore - Microsoft's website will only provide CU9 or later. Management has not approved the updating from CU7 to any other update anytime for the next several months, but they want the implementation of the new Exchange done by close of the year, non-negotiable. Where can I get CU7 from?
2.      Is the CU7 update the whole Exchange install? I would much prefer install the correct version in the first place than having to Install an Exchange 2013 CUx, then update to CU7, then add it to the DAG.

Thanks.

Since management was quite clear with regards to a "no upgrade this year", I don't think I have a choice but to find CU7 somehow. I'll start messaging some Exchange boards around and see if anyone still has a full copy of CU7. *sighs*.
I was hoping that running one in CU7 and another in CU9 would have worked seamlessly but I believe that isn't the case.

Thanks for your answers Viral, much appreciated.

If anyone is reading this and has a copy of CU7 that I can get my hands on within the next 48h, please let me know? :)
