Hyper V Cluster Migration 2008R2 SP1 to 2012R2 Side by Side
I am currently in the process of creating 4 x 2012R2 Servers to create a new 2012 R2 cluster ready to migrate my current 2008 R2 cluster to.
I will be using the same storage, my question is, I would like to create the new hyper v cluster and have this running for a little while before I actually migrate the live cluster to this, do I simply connect the new cluster to the same storage group on my SAN (dell isci md3600i), will this cause me any problems when I present storage to my new hyper v cluster?
Many Thanks in advance
Daniel

Thanks for your reply
I am not intending to connect the new cluster to the current luns, but they will be able to see the other luns via disk management (in a reserved state as they will not be connected to the new failover cluster) as they will be in the same storage group on the san as I believe this will be required ready for the cluster migration wizard.
I thought the point of the cluster migration wizard was that you are connected to the same storage group so it can see the storage?
Thanks
Daniel

My preference would be to provision new storage on the SAN for the new cluster, and then move VMs over one at a time until they are all on the new cluster. You can then destroy the original cluster and reclaim the capacity on the SAN.
