HDMI port on laptop not working
I have a user that has a P50 Lenovo laptop and his HDMI port is not working? The P50 seems to be full of bad things that go wrong. All drivers are there. This is windows 7 enterprise 64 bit.
Remove the docking station and try the HDMI port on the laptop to see if that works.
Hi Millerdog
Firstly I would run the Lenovo System Update Software available Here
This will check for updates for both the laptop AND check to see if there is a firmware update for the docking station.
I hope this resolves your issue.

I thought I had done that but this is a desktop so maybe I missed a driver. I will check again on the site in the matrix for the driver. I will get back.
You do not use a mechanical dock on a desktop. You could use a USB dock but it is not made for such use.
Does the desktop have an HDMI port?

We have mechanical docking stations. The user was not here today so I have to grab them tomorrow.
So it cannot a desktop but a laptop. What about an HDMI port on the laptop
ASKER
Yes, it is a laptop. P50 are laptops by Lenovo. Newest models are P50.
It will have an HDMI port. Did you try it?

where can I paste the screen shots?:
You can make a picture, upload it to you computer and post here. Use medium (not highest) resolution.

There are the screen [pictures of all the tabs in the Bios. Now if you find out where to edit the bios. There is supposed to be a tab that allows you to change the compatibility setting on the drive to compatible.
Thank you for the screen shots. They do not verify or deny the presence of an HDMI port on your computer.
It should have one though.

Yes, you can edit those settings but that does not tell us if the Laptop HDMI port is working or not.

I say that as I was told from Lenovo that I need to change the setting to Compatibility mode then back after I re-boot to show the drive?
That is for the HDMI on the dock. Yes, I understand that. Did it work?
But if not, you need to test the HDMI port on the laptop as well.

I am about to go run test now. I am thinking at this point more hardware than drivers.

doing that now. I have to walk down to his laptop and desktop to look at both. I think the laptop and firmware need to be corrected. I also am now just adding the firmware update for the Thunderbolt software they just started adding.
ASKER
That was it. Hardware. The docking station was the issue. After all that looking?
Thank you for following up.

Oh this was a pain. Lenovo caught many by these new M2 drive by surprise.
