Component Services - Security properties greyed out

I had this question after viewing Computer crashes, following error message in event manager.

When opening Component Services and the identified service the Security settings are greyed out and cannot be changed.

You need to locate the associated AppID/ClassID for the component(s) in the registry and take ownership of it, once you do this, you can then modify the permissions.

ASKER

I did try this, but I get "Access is denied" when I try to change the permissions.

I am logged into a domain with a user that has been given local admin rights.  I have also tried to log in as the local administrator and I get the same error.

This did appear to work.  Overall it seemed to have resolved the original DCOM messages I was getting.

Thanks,
