assessment of laptops/desktops for hardware refresh
we have been tasked with assessing the adequacy of our current end user device estate (desktops/laptops) against modern minimum standards, to identify key candidates for hardware refresh processes. I am looking for some actual metrics to identify if the devices are fit for purpose, or if there age/spec makes them a risk/inadequate for the business. The only obvious thing I could think to measure them against was if the device is out of hardware support/likewise any software on it out of support. Is there any other sort of measure that could be considered to identify which devices need replacing/upgrading? if so which?
I wasn't sure of windows OS have any minimum requirements in terms of hardware in which is must be installed which we could also assess if compliant/non complaint with those, currently on windows 7 enterprise.
