Missing Restore Points on Windows 7
My client has a Dell PC running Windows 7 Home Premium SP1. She reported that the PC was acting unstable and displaying the blue rotating circle constantly when attempting to launch any applications.
I went onsite and decided to run a System Restore to a week earlier. After processing the request for a long time, I got an error message that the Restore did not complete successfully.
I rebooted the PC and when I went back to try System Restore again, this time I got a message that this PC had no available restore points. But there were dozens just 15 minutes earlier.
I know that "Volume Shadows Services" needs to be running for System Restore to work. When I checked services, it was running.
I then suspected that there might be malware involved. I ran a full malware scan booting from an up-to-date "Windows Defender Offline" CD and zero infections were found.
Anyone know how I can those missing restore points back?

Thank you, @n2fc. At least half of the HDD is available, so it's definitely not an issue of being low on drive space.
I have the System Restore set to use 10% of HDD.
I'm going back onsite later today. I will clear out the temp files & caches.
Any good recommendations for a rootkit scanner for Windows?

Thanks to everyone who responded, I wasn't able to bring back those missing restore points, but the computer is behaving again and fairly stable now, so I'll close this ticket out.

Thanks!
You are very welcome and I was happy to help.
Scan thoroughly with your own Anti Virus and then follow it with Malwarebytes.
