Unifi AP

I have a Unifi AP connected to a port but it is not getting DHCP IP but if we connect a laptop to it, it works fine. The vlan for the port has access-list which allows bootp protocol.

I'm wondering if the Unifi AP requires a certain protocol to get an IP address.

Does anyone know ?

thanks

UniFi AP's use standard DHCP, the only extra they might need is a DHCP option with the IP of the controller, if they're not on the same L2 segment.
Check the management vlan config on the AP, it might be configured to use a tagged vlan to get an IP.
Is the switch PoE? If so, was the AP getting power? If the answer is no, you might be using the APs that require passive PoE, not standard PoE, in which case you have to use a power injector. If your AP is getting power, are there any configurations in the switch that block certain MAC addresses or only allow certain ones?

To get an IP address, there is no special protocol for UniFi APs. Just normal everyday DHCP.
