Iomega mmhdc 1TB - Not recognised in Mac OS

Hi guys,

Merry Christmas to anyone celebrating!

I have the above external 1 TB drive. It has been plugged into my Airport Extreme for several years, and it has probably never been turned off. A few months ago I started getting an error and it would not connect. Periodically it would work.

It has stopped being recognised now. I have put the firewire into it, tried the USB etc - even tried my old Mac.

When I go to Disk Utility, cannot see the drive. It just seems to hang on loading all drives, until I pull the cable out and then it finds my Mac again.

There are lots of things I really care about on this drive (and yes I know I should have more than one copy - that was what I was doing today).

Happy to buy anything I need to try and fix. Even thinking I may need to undo the unit, get the hard drive out and try and see in a cradle on my W10 machine.

Please help!!!

Thanks.

Managed to get disk utility to work. Screens attached. I had placed in my W10 machine (USB) did not do anything but knew was a  drive attached as let me eject it.

Then tried again on the Airport Extreme. Got an error there saying repair disk.

Final connection back to Mac and got these screens.

Have found an article on how to get the HDD out the case, although not sure if that will help.

Taken the HDD out the case and it is a 2TB (sorry - I had forgot) Samsung HD204UI.

Tried to use a Data connection in an HP Elitedesk but it cannot see the drive in W10 disk management

Will keep trying
Downloaded Prosoft Engineering Data Rescue 4 for the Mac and it has found all my files - thus proving they are still there.

I can buy the software - but any suggestions first?
