Mapped Network Drive Multiplying - Windows 7 - 64 Bit

My office manager says that she have multiple mapped drives for a network location she does not use.

Clicking "My Computer" on her desktop, I see:

Hard Disk Drives (1)

Local Disk (C:)

Removable Storage (1)

DVD RW Drive (D:)

Network Location (22):

For example,

clients (\\dataserver)  (:E)
clients (\\dataserver)  (:F)
clients (\\dataserver)  (:G)
clients (\\dataserver)  (:H)
.
.
.
clients (\\dataserver)  (:Z)

the office manager does not use any clients folder on any dataserver.

I tried disconnecting E thru Z, all clients (\\dataserver) mapped drives, and rebooting the computer . . . over time, the mapped drives re-appear.

What could be causing the creation of multiple mapped drives?

Thanks for your help.

Are you on a domain? If so, the cause may be a GPO or user logon profile setting.

To  NVIT:  We are in a domain.  We do not use GPO or user logon profile settings.

To Tom Cieslik:  I did notice in the listing of contents on the C: drive, there was a shortcut for E:\dataserver\clients, though the office manager never uses that folder.  Could it be, that when she logs on, Windows 7 "looks" for shortcuts, verifies the shortcut location, and if it does not find the "mapped" drive, it creates it?

I did a global search of her system registry, found and deleted all references to "dataserver"

Now I guess, we wait and see what the computer does over the next day or two.

So far so good!  The problem was a shortcut on a mapped network drive, that referred to another non-mapped network drive, thus, Windows 7 created a mapped network drive that the shortcut referenced.
