How do I disable Microsoft Security Essentials on Win7?

I have a backup issue that I think is being caused by a conflict with  Microsoft Security Essentials.

How do I turn  Microsoft Security Essentials  off? I already have another virus product.

Do consider only one AV ideally and uninstall the other. Most of the time the conflict is due to real time scanning. In other words, you can have two AV programs installed, but one of them must have real-time on-access scanning disabled at all times and used only for 'on demand' manual scans. Generally speaking though, it's much simpler to have only one AV installed since having real-time scanning disabled on one of them will usually cause that AV to "prompt" at you, constantly.
Agreed - that is why I suggested uninstalling it if it is not to be used.
Open Microsoft Security Essentials -> click "Settings" tab -> select "Real time protection" -> uncheck the box "Turn on real-time protection" (recommended).
Thanks and I was happy to help you resolve this.
