Change the background and font colors in Notepad++
Hello,
How do you change the background in Notepad++ from the default white to a darker shade and how do you change individual font colors?
I am not a programmer nor have I previously used Notepad++ so here is some additional information and a couple of questions which may or may not be relevant:
I am an avid but novice user of AutoHotkey (AHK) and I have been looking for a text editor specifically designed for AHK. Recently I learned that an AHK plug-in is available for Notepad++ and thanks to some very helpful (and patient) experts at EE, I was able to get the plug-in installed.
Will a plug-in affect or be effected by changes made to the background and font colors?
Here is the appearance of a portion of a script in Notepad++ with the AHK plug-in (Fig. 1) and the same content in another editor* (AHK Studio) (Fig. 2):
While I am not particularly fond of the exact color selections in the 2nd screenshot, it certainly is easier to look at (imo) than the washed-out appearance in the 1st — and hopefully conveys an idea of what I'm after.
Aren't there several other overall color themes available for Notepad++ and if so, how does one obtain them?
Thanks
*I intend to stick with the Notepad++ option over alternatives because I anticipate support for the former will be more readily accessible.

Thanks for the responses.
Not infrequently, a thread comes along which makes me stop and think two things:
1) the (personalized) information in just this one thread easily justifies a full year's subscription fees to EE and
2) I don't understand why everyone who has a computer is not an EE member.
I don't know how long it would have taken otherwise to figure out how to modify the appearance of Notepad++ but after reading through the link provided by D Patel and especially the detailed instructions from Joe Winograd, I now feel quite comfortable doing what only a day ago was completely foreign.
A couple of additional questions have come to mind but they regard slightly different topics so I will post them in a new thread.
Thanks again

Thank you for the very kind words, Steve — really nice to hear! Wishing you and your family a Happy New Year — all the best in 2017! Regards, Joe
FWIW, my preference is the Vim Dark Blue theme.
