Setting up two Raspberry Pi gateways/routers
Today I have one Raspberry PI 1 that acts as a NAT router and gateway to the internet. Sometimes, when one of the internal clients are hogging all the resources, this gateway becomes unresponsive to all other clients.
I can either upgrade to Raspberry PI 3, that has more computing resources, or I can install a second gateway that I want to be used when the first one is not available. I don't want to replace the original gateway, since there is a whole lot of work in recreating the exact same software setup on a new Raspberry. Therefore, I want to go for a second router that offloads the first router when needed.
I have found several articles that describe how to set up one Raspberry to load balance two internet connections, but nothing that describes how to set up two Raspberry's to load balance requests to one internet connection. Is there anyone here that has knowledge or articles they can share on how to do this?
