Any error messages in normal boot?

What's the spec of the server?

Are the disks Ok?

Many things could be the issue.  I've seen this happen (not directly related to the updates) with disk issues.  I'd boot the installation disk, get to the command prompt, and run chkdsk on the array.
The most common fix is to boot the server with Windows 2012 installer DVD/CD, go into Recovery Console and rename the file c:\windows\winsxs\pending.xml to something as pending.old. You may even delete the file as a potential fix. This file contains the list of patches that needs to be applied on the system undergoing the updates.  After you have deleted or renamed the file, try to reboot Windows 2012 and it may bypass the Configuring Updates screen and display your desktop.

The Windows Update loop can be fixed in most cases by deleting the following files found in the \Windows\WinSxS\ folder:

    cleanup.xml
    pending.xml
Well I let it reboot over night, It booted into Windows 2012. it's giving me a "File Access Error:
"File CWSYSTEM could not be opened. Error: Internal database error***ERROR***Assertion failed:
201850 {9.0.2.3924}
Checkpoint log: bitmap write to D:\ServerFolders\database\Alarmwin\afwasa.db failed with status1117:
filesystem may be full--transaction rolled back (S1000). Press OK to end this application."

Alarmwin is an old database that is no longer used. I pressed OK
System started to run really slow so I rebooted again

Now I get a
6Gbps SAS Controller
MPT2BIOS-7.11.10.00 (2011.06.02)
Copyright 2000-2011 LSI Corp.
Error: Preferred boot device is missing, reconfiguration is suggested!
Press any key to continue...

this server has 3 hard drives and I think it's a RAID5 not a RAID1 like I thought it did
I opened up the case and I hear a clicking sound from one of the drives
Take out the faulty disk and boot up again. You should be able to determine which disk is faulty within the PERC config.  Failing that, take out one disk at a time and try boot up.
I'm pretty sure it's DISK0
I can now hear the clicking coming from this disk the other two are silent and spinning
What's the process? replace drive and do I go into the PERC config and tell it to rebuild the new drive?

thanks

No problem. Let us know how you get on.
I'm up and running on 2 drives, waiting for replacement drive ETA 4:30 today
I should be able to add the drive to the RAID, I'm not sure if I have Dell open manage software on it. I don't have access to the server right now. When I shutdown tonight can I simply add the new drive and boot into the PERC config and watch it add the drive?
It should be as simple as that but you might need to add it.  It's fairly straight forward to add it into the array.

The open manage software is also available on the link you sent on a previous post.
I'm trying to check the status of this new hard drive, I cannot fined Dell Open Mange software on this server. I went to Dell's downloads but I see many Open manager options and I'm not sure which one to use to check status on this new drive or to make sure it's now part of the RAID again, here is the link

How did you get on?
I used the PERC config at boot up thanks
