Standalone converter (Shrinking process)

I have a process that I often have to do, and would like to know if it is possible to automate it and from where I should start to do so.
Process is to use vmware standalone converter in order to shrink and convert vm's. Process is to convert machine, then change the disk layers from thick to thin as well as ensuring to keep the network adapter to vmxnet3. Then I choose my datastore and convert my VM.
Question is, how can I automate this task?
Should you need additional information, do not hesitate to revert back.

Thanks

Storage vmotion does shrinking too (complemented with sdelete -c)

Not possible with VMware Converter. You will need to purchase commercial software, e.g. Double Take MOVE.

VMware Converter is an interactive process.

The idea is to resize hard drives and optimize space while keeping same settings e.g: (network adapter vmxnet3) for our VM's.
How can I automate the above, while keeping Vmware tools(not specially vmware converter as it is an interactive process as mentioned), without having to purchase a third party software?
