Cannot log into the Exchange Admin Center (Exchange 2016)

I have a new Exchange 2016 install on a Windows Server 2012 R2, in a 2008 Active Directory environment, when I try to log into the Admin Center, I get the logon page, enter my user details and then get HTTP 500 internal server error once I press enter.  My Exchange Management Shell works.  I am able to create mailboxes, list the databases everything here works.

I think i have read every article out there and tried everything that everybody has recommended.

I have created mailboxes for the administrator and myself, made sure the accounts have been added to the correct groups.

When I read one of the articles listed above and a few others reffering to the Microsoft Exchange Forms-Based Authentication service, I went to have a look and realised that there was no such service on the exchange server. I did see that this service gets installed on a CAS server, but Exchange 2016 does not have that role as separate anymore.  Does that mean that Exchange 2016 does not make use of this service anymore?  If it does need the service then how do I install it.

Any help will be much appreciated.

Hi,

Yes, CAS included with Mailbox role server. Did you checked the IIS part? there will be 2 sites 'front-end' and  'back-end'. Just compare that and see if you set any re-direction?

Also, have a look at this thread https://exchangeloadbalancer.com/deploying-exchange-2016-server-cas-owa/ and see if you installed all the necessary roles.

ASKER

Hi Radhakrisnan,

Thank you for taking the time to try and answer my question.  What I am actually looking for though is confirmation that the Exchange Forms-Base service is still used In Exchange 2016 and that it must be installed and running under services.  The reason that I ask this is because I have noticed in previous version of Exchange that it does get installed and must be running for the ECP to work. I unfortunately don't have access to another Exchange 2016 to confirm this.  If the service is supposed to be installed and running then I need to find a solution as to how to get it installed as my system does not have the service at all.  I believe that once I get the service installed it will solve my problem.

My only option was to reinstall as I had tried all other options and I need to close this question as my problem has been resolved through my actions.
