Hi Guys,<br />

Unsure if this is a windows 8 'thing' or something incorrect with the OS but whenever I have an application running and I go to launch a second instance via start menu or desktop icons by default it wont launch a second instance but just bring the 1st instance to the front<br />
<br />
some example; IE, Outlook, Remote desktop connection, excel.<br />
<br />
If I right click and select 'open in new window' then it will launch the 2nd instance just fine.<br />
<br />
normal? any fixes? starting to get annoying every time I open a notepad to make some quick notes.<br />

Windows 8 - Second Application Launching

Windows 8 is a personal computer operating system developed by Microsoft as part of the Windows NT family of operating systems, with an emphasis on improving its user experience on tablets. In particular, these changes included a touch-optimized Windows shell based on Microsoft's "Metro" design language, the Start screen, a new platform for developing apps with an emphasis on touchscreen input, integration with online services, support for USB 3.0, Advanced Format hard drives, near field communications, and cloud computing. Additional security features were introduced, such as built-in antivirus software, integration with Microsoft SmartScreen phishing filtering service and support for UEFI Secure Boot on supported devices with UEFI firmware.

Windows 8

Operating systems perform basic tasks, such as recognizing input from the keyboard, sending output to the display screen, keeping track of files and directories on the disk, and controlling peripheral devices such as disk drives and printers. For large systems, the operating system makes sure that different programs and users running at the same time do not interfere with each other. The operating system is also responsible for security, ensuring that unauthorized users do not access the system. Operating systems provide a software platform on top of which other programs, called application programs, can run.
