HP Switches - Stacked to the max but need more ports, can I?
So, we have 4 x HP 2910al-48g switches in a stack, they are connected using the 10GB interconnects at the back in a ring configuration. We need around 20 additional ports to support devices such as AP's, MFD's, Desktop Printers etc so i went to order another only to find out:
A: The 2910s are no longer available
B: We can only stack 4 switches
At the moment we just have a standard Netgear linked via a single port so all of the traffic from the Netgear has to travel up to the 4th HP 2910 via a 1GB cable.
The question is can i purchase an Aruba 2920 and use the uplink ports on the 2910 and 2920 to connect them at 10Gbps? I know it's not ideal but for the sake of connecting some non critical devices it could save me quote a lot of money splashing out on completely new switches that can support the number of ports we need.
We run VMWare and VDI so i want to avoid daisy chaining where possible.
Thanks
