Best equipment for using two laptops with one monitor, one keyboard, and one mouse.

I work from home and have a work laptop and a personal laptop.
I have one monitor, one keyboard and one mouse and will need switch between the work and personal laptops.

Synergy is a great product... I've used it for several years.  But, it doesn't share a monitor.  Having two laptops satisfiies the requirement that each machine have a monitor but I sense that you really want to use an external monitor shared between the two laptops.  I think the only way you can achieve that is with a hardware KVM.  With that you can use your single keyboard and mouse (but not if they're wireless... wireless-capable KVM's are not commonplace and are quite EXPENSIVE) between the two (or more) laptops.  It is even possible to use Synergy in conjuntion with the KVM.  A great feature of Synergy is clipboard sharing... cut/copy from one desktop and paste to another.
Yup I agree, just threw out software solutions because some might not be aware of these. I much more enjoy working on two+ monitors than one, continuesly haveing to switch. The most monitors that I have used with inputdirector was 6 which was fun, sure others used more
