You can setup few accounts in yahoo and few on premise
However MX will point to only one place
hence you need to setup routing between your on premise servers and yahoo servers
This will allow to receive mails from internet at one end point and if user mailbox is not available, it will forward that mail to another end point, The same way like internal relay domain with MS Exchange
Check with yahoo how to to achieve this
This is very much possible with MS Exchange / O365 platforms
Having two mail platforms in co-existence will increase overheads because you need to maintain / manage both platforms
In my opinion, keep only one platform probably keep cloud platform for simplicity
Infact I am not aware your motive for keeping both platforms

Hi Mahesh,
Thanks for your reply.
We are implementing our own mail server (Kolab with email spam filter gateway ) and it is ready which in our VPS. At present all my organizational accounts are hosted at YAHOO SMB. My initial requirement is I need to configure few accounts in VPS server and others is YAHOO. if everything is working fine in our mail server, gradually we will move the remaining ids to my VPS Server.
Please let me know the possibility.
Thanks,
Vijay.G

Hi Vijay,
I am not familiar with neither yahoo professional mail management nor kolab as well to guide you steps
my core area is MS Exchange / o365
However, The basic principal on which mail flow works across platforms remains the same no matter which platform you are.
You need to work on mail routing:
mail will be landed at one place (ex: yahoo) - MX record
Check with yahoo / Kolab support team how to setup internal relay domain / forwarding / target email address at both sides so that if user mailbox is not available in yahoo, mail should get forwarded to kolab system and vice versa
You do need to export and import contacts from yahoo to kolab and vice versa to work this scenario correctly
Once above is done, you can keep few mailboxes in kolab and few in yahoo.

Hi Mahesh,
Thanks for your prompt reply, If Yahoo & Kolab allow for relay domain? do we require any Gateway policy server? Which deliver the mails to source to destination. If so please let me know the process to build Gateway Server.
Thanks,

Thanks
Multiple means Yahoo as well as Exchange so sorry it's not possible becouse...
Mx is pointing to your mail server which could be your yahoo or Exchange server .. cannot be both...
the second option is you have to maintain 2 seperate domains for yahoo and exchange to use the scenario...
like yourco.com & yourcom.com etc. which is not a good practice...
all the best
