My windows server 2000 is not coming online
Dear Experts,
My windows 2000 server is not coming online, when we contacted the HP, they suggested to do the OS repair from CD.
please suggest, can I mount the win 2000 image in the virtual cd and do the repair?
or It is required to insert the CD into the physical drive to repair?
and also please provide me the os repair steps.

When you say "not coming online" do you mean it crashes when booting or what? What exactly is it doing?

Okay, I think you'll be alright! That's usually a driver issue.
A few things...
1. Did you recently install a new hard drive controller or hard drive?
2. Has the server ever booted up? If so, every time you boot your computer and log on successfully, Window 2000 stores the configuration information in the Registry under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM. You could try to boot using last known good config and see if that works. You can do this by pressing F8 while the computer boots up and selecting that option. Also, try to boot into safe mode to see if maybe it is a driver issue.
Let me know if this works!!

Have you changed anything internally with the machine?
Before doing anything (further) to the drive, extract it and make a full backup of it on another machine. Then, no matter what happens, you can not end up worse off than you are now. If something you attempt fails to solve the problem, you'll be in an unknown state with unknown additional problems.
Suggestion: Then enable Boot Logging. This is relatively non-intrusive and should not make things worse. Try to boot the machine once more, then take the drive back to the other system and read out the boot log.
Note that this applies only if the system drive is a single, non-RAID drive. If the drive is a RAID set, the situation is markedly harder to deal with.

Yes this is on the DAS storage with two logical hard drives.
