Power Connector To GPU: How To Connect 6 pin and 2 pin PCI-E Connector to GPU wtih One 8 Pin Connector

I have a Gigabyte GTX970 Mni PCI-e 16 graphics card with one 8 pin connector for auxiliary power.  With my PSU, which is a Seasonic Platnium series which 1050 watts I have 2 type of PCI-E connectors, one type is  labeled GB12 and the other GB13, one has 2 connector "sets" and the other cable has just a one connector "set".  The one with the 2 sets uses 7 pins on the PSU side, but the one with just one set uses just 6 pins on the PSU side connector.

These "sets" have 2 connectors: one is a 6 pin and the other is a 2 pin.  It looks like the 2 pin is just chained to the 6 pin connector and the 2 wires/pins are ground (this is the GB12 style with just the one set of connectors).

So my question is: I know I have to connect the 6 pin connector and it's keyed to fit the GPU, but, what about the 2 pin connector should I connect that up also.  The pins do align with the 2 remaining pins on the GPU connector?
Thanks

both of them should be in place as input to your GPU.

Thank you very much for your comment.  It helped immensely.  Both parts of your answer were just what I was looking for.  I did what you said and everything is working great and I've been running system for quite awhile now
