Is my window10 Safe? after a malware removed by AV?

i was given a new machine by our IT dept.

the AV was not active and once it got active, i saw the logs and i found and the AV had found two issues and got them fixed by itself. meaning it deleted the infected files.

User generated image
these files were from a flashdisk i got from a friend and completely formatted my flash disk as well.

now that AV shows my system is protected, does it mean it is really protected?

last time my machine had more or less similar issue, the IT re-imaged my machine. meaning reinstalled the fresh OS.
this time, i am not sure;  i have a lot of customized setting and softwares that requires reinstallation that i do not want to reimage the machine. based on your experience, should i be worried even when the AV shows that files were deleted?

would appreciate your comments, guidance on what is best to be done and how worried should i be with this malware infection which is removed by AV.  do i really have to reimage the machine? or can i continue working in my machine without reinstalling the OS?

thanks.
