Hi 25112,

Yes the phone will work in US. You just need a new SIM.

You may be want to try - AT&T Wirless and T-Mobile. Your sim must be unlocked.

Hope it helps!

You can use  the phone for 3G network only,

https://www.cnet.com/news/bringing-your-own-smartphone-to-verizon-what-do-i-need-to-worry-about/

Other carriers can only give you access to 3G network also.

You need to buy another phone if you want to use 4G LTE network.

thanks.

under key features it says
"4G, Wi-Fi, BT".. is 4G mean 3G (as meaning not LTE?) pl clarify

would see any other 4g phones in http://www.onida.com/mobile-phones ?.
NO 4G is different from 3G.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks

You need to have a phone which supports 4G LTE Bands 13, 4 or 2 if you want to access 4G LTE network of Verizon.

4G LTE only means faster data network speed. If you only need 3G, you only need to buy a low end model without 4G.

jackie, you mentioned "You can use  the phone for 3G network only,"
were you referring to the below or some other phone?
http://www.onida.com/mobile-phones/i4g1-Black

the above link mentioned the below.. hence the confusion if the phone is 3G, in anyway?
"Onida i4G1 is powered by an 1.2 GHz Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor with Android Lollipop OS. Enjoy lightning fast connections with 4G LTE ."

the second question is if it will work with verizon as per your mention of "4G LTE Bands 13, 4 or 2 "

in the operating frequency, it says "GSM 900 MHz, 1800 Mhz; WCDMA 2100 MHz; LTE Band 1,3,7,20,40". since 1,3,7,20,40 dont overlap with 2,4,13. is it same to conclude the phone wont work with vzw?

Pawan, you had said "Yes the phone will work in US. You just need a new SIM. You may be want to try - AT&T Wirless and T-Mobile. "

t-mobile is 2,4,12 as per https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
at&t is 17,5,4,2,30.. can you suggest how to confirm if these carriers fit this phone compatibility?
(please see under specs in http://www.onida.com/mobile-phones/i4g1-Black , under 'platform')
were you referring to the below or some other phone?

refer to your phone

you need a phone which supports the 4G LTE bands of verizon. no overlap needs not supported.
the phone still work with verizon but at a much lower network speed of 3G instead of 4G LTE network.

jackie, how can you know/calculate if the phone advertised for 4glte can truly keep up to that speed..

the phones website http://www.onida.com/mobile-phones/i4g1-Black says "Onida i4G1 is powered by an 1.2 GHz Quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon Processor with Android Lollipop OS. Enjoy lightning fast connections with 4G LTE ."
if the unlocked phone can only work at 3G with verizon, i'd like to know how to deduce that information. based on that, is there any carrier on which this phone can do optimal LTE speed, while in usa? based on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks info

I'm answering all of this assuming that the phone is unlocked.

Yes the phone will work in US. You just need a new SIM.

This phone will NOT work in the US. The LTE bands AND the frequencies are not the ones used here. If you ever need more information on what is necessary to work in the US, look at the US operations of AT&T and T-Mobile, as they are by far the largest 2 GSM carriers in the country.

You may be want to try - AT&T Wirless and T-Mobile. Your sim must be unlocked.
This is half right. The carriers to look at in the US are correct, however it's the phone that needs to be unlocked NOT the SIM card.

The phone would never work with Verizon. Verizon uses SIM cards only for 4G service. Their 3G service is CDMA based, which doesn't utilize SIM cards at all and is not compatible with GSM. Now that said, even if the phone had been compatible with the LTE bands in the US, if you used a Verizon card and went somewhere that didn't have 4G coverage, your phone would instantly become a paperweight until you were in a 4G area again.

The i405, however, would work in the US with AT&T and T-Mobile 3G networks based on what the manufacturer has written in the summaries (their specifications do not seem to support the same). Quad band 3G phones will work across the world.

>>Quad band 3G phones will work across the world.
by quad band, do you mean GSM 850-900-1800-1900 MHz?
is this the #1 or only criteria to determine if an unlocked 3G GSM phone will work on an network?

if that is the case, then would these phones (i101,i455,i501,i502,i777)from the same company work in usa OK? (3G) which
seem to cover the frequency band of 1900 MHz

>>4G LTE Bands for cellular service providers in USA: 2, 4, 5, 12, 13, 17, 25, 26, 30, and 41

what are the bands alloted for 3G in USA?
is this essential beyond the foundation of what frequency band the carrier uses (example: 1900 or 850 etc)
by quad band, do you mean GSM 850-900-1800-1900 MHz?
Yes.

is this the #1 or only criteria to determine if an unlocked 3G GSM phone will work on an network?

That should be good. 850 and 1900 are used in the US.

For phones where you have IMEI numbers, this utility from AT&T should be helpful: https://www.att.com/shop/wireless/byop.html

An ideal case would be to see if you can get someone to give you the IMEI or one of the phones. Then all you have to do is input it into the site.

When it comes to LTE, then the bands that Jackie listed earlier come into play. AT&T uses 2, 4, 5, and 17. T-Mobile uses 2, 4, and 12. I push you more towards these two carriers because of their size, plus they use GSM. Verizon uses LTE, but they are a CDMA carrier. So like I mentioned, if you go to non-LTE areas on the VZW network, your phone is useless.

thank you for that idea..
I got the imei # and punched into the website..

it says "Your device is compatible, but we are unable to find the correct SIM card."

attached is picture from the backside of phone.. it seems like triband.. will the 1900Mhz make difference in USA (pl see attached pic)
1900.png
You're going to have a problem in the US. Because AT&T and T-Mobile use a mixture of 850 and 1900, you're not going to get the benefit of the entire network. You'll be fine in some areas, but have problems in others. No way to predict which areas are going to work and which won't.

And of course, you won't have any 4G coverage (phone is not compatible with any of the bands needed).

ok. the conclusion for that specific phone, then , is:

it will work in 3G, but not all the places (in usa)
is that correct?
